KoolR Consumer‑Friendly Guide
A simple, easy‑to‑read version of your installation, use, and care instructions
Choosing the Right Location
Your KoolR cooling unit works best when installed correctly. Here’s what you need to know:
-
Indoor use only. Never install the unit in a fire wall, fire barrier, or fire partition.
-
Vent warm air into a large, ventilated interior room. The warm air must flow freely into an adjacent indoor space near the ceiling.
-
Do NOT vent into: garages, laundry closets, or any room that traps warm air.
-
No ducting. Airflow must be completely unobstructed — the unit moves up to 200 cubic feet of air per minute.
-
Keep clear space around the unit. Don’t block airflow on any side.
-
Avoid heat sources. Do not install near ovens, radiators, or anywhere below 55°F (13°C).
Temperature Requirements
To keep your wine or pantry items at the right temperature:
-
Choose a room where the ambient temperature is no more than 25°F (14°C) above your desired storage temperature.
-
The warm‑air venting room must stay between 65°F and 80°F, with humidity below 70%.
-
Default temperature is 57°F (14°C).
-
You may set the temperature between 53°F and 64°F (12°C–18°C) if conditions allow.
Insulation Requirements
Proper insulation is essential for performance:
-
All walls, floors, and ceilings must be insulated to R‑20 with vapor barriers on both sides.
-
Floors MUST be insulated. Bare concrete floors radiate heat and humidity.
-
Use an insulated door with a good weather seal.
Electrical Requirements
Before installation, make sure you have:
-
A dedicated, grounded 15‑amp / 115‑volt outlet on the cool side (Europe: 10‑amp / 220‑volt).
-
No extension cords.
-
A surge protector to protect electronics.
-
An outlet that cannot be turned off by a wall switch.
-
Line voltage above 105V.
Always unplug the unit before cleaning or maintenance.
Unpacking Your KoolR
-
Use two people — the unit is heavy.
-
Remove packaging carefully (avoid sharp tools).
-
Vacuum out any leftover packing material.
-
Inspect for shipping damage and report major issues to www.wineracking.ca
-
Let the unit rest horizontally for 2 hours before powering on.
-
Test run for 10 minutes:
-
Display lights up
-
Fans start within 1 minute
-
Compressor starts within the next minute
-
Warm air exits the warm side; cool air exits the cold side
-
Record your serial number.
Preparing Your Room
Build your wine cellar or pantry with:
-
Proper insulation
-
A sealed, insulated door
-
A dedicated electrical line
Follow the wall‑cutout template for installation.
Installing the KoolR
-
Use two people and a safe ladder.
-
Attach the decorative grille on the warm side.
-
Connect the drain as shown in the template. Improper drain setup can cause water damage.
KoolR is not responsible for any decorative additions that block airflow.
First Startup & Monitoring
For the first 12 hours, monitor the unit closely.
The unit has a safety shutoff at 72°F. During the first 12 hours, the alarm is temporarily ignored so the unit can cool the room properly.
Normal Operating Sounds
Your KoolR may make sounds you’re not used to — this is normal:
-
High‑efficiency fans and compressor may run longer
-
Pulsing or high‑pitched sounds
-
Rattling from refrigerant flow
-
Gurgling at the end of cycles
-
Water running into the drain pan
-
Clicking when starting or stopping
Using the Controls
-
Factory preset is 57°F — confirm this at installation.
-
Wait 24 hours between temperature adjustments.
-
Lower the setting for a colder cellar; raise it for warmer.
-
Display shows current temperature unless within 3°F of the set point.
Wine Racks & Stocking
-
Never place racks close to or under the cooling unit — airflow must stay open.
-
Expect slight temperature differences within the room.
-
Liquid temperature stays stable even if air temperature fluctuates.
Lighting
Leaving lights on will warm the room — turn them off when not needed.
Cleaning & Care
Clean monthly:
-
Unplug the unit.
-
Remove the grille.
-
Avoid harsh cleaners or abrasive tools.
-
Vacuum condenser and evaporator coils (may need cleaning every 2 months).

Changing the Fuse
Replace only with the same size and amperage. Instructions available at the manufacturer’s website.
